Mathematics is an important treasure of the human spirit and culture. Mathematics is all around us, we use mathematics all the time in our daily lives. To make the students understand mathematics more comprehensively CBS PYP launched the "Math Race" mathematics activities.  During these activities, students experienced a variety of mathematical games and experienced the fun of mathematics.

For students of different ages, the teachers of the mathematics group carefully designed thinking competitions such as number jump, instant memory of playing cards, Schulte square, sandbag throwing, and 24-point smart calculation. Each event students could gain House points. Using Brain-inspired math games students were able to feel the fun of mathematics, explore the laws of mathematics to make mathematical thinking a basic literacy.

The first and second graders when playing "Instant Memory of Poker" showed their love for numbers. Some students said: "Numbers can still be played like this", "I just said one wrong", "Referee, can you let me play one more time?"

"Schulte Grid" aimed to cultivate students' ability to concentrate and pay attention, but also expand their visual field and increase reaction speed. When the junior students found the next correct number in the "Schulte square" competition, they shouted, "I am the memory king"! "Can you figure out their sum?" The smiles on the students' faces let us see the joy of the students immersed in the mathematical world.

"Throwing sandbags" is mainly divided into two rounds of four games, and a single-elimination system. The competition was fierce, but students felt the fun of the game.

In "Calculate 24 points", four students draw four cards at the same time and used operations to make 24 points at the fastest speed within a limited time. The entire House group cheered their groups on when the 24 was calculated.

The activities of the Math Race showed many aspects of mathematics to the students and helped stimulate students' interest in mathematics. Using mathematics with games let all feel the charm and splendour of learning mathematics.
