Dear teachers and students,
Good morning. I’m Jim from Grade 10A and this is my classmate Emma.
A special festival- International Women’s Day will arrive soon with the coming of spring. The establishment of this festival is the result of the joint efforts by all the women globally.
Women’s day firstly originated from western countries. On 8th March ,1857, female workers in New York took to the streets to protest against poor working environment and low salaries. From then on,the parade for similar purposes took place on the same date every year.
In September 1921, the second session of the International Communist Women's Conference was held in Moscow. It was in this conference that the day of 8 March was made as the international Working Women's Day. Since then women have their own festival. In 1924, China first commemorated Women's Day. After the founding of New China, our country set up this festival. Then, gradually there is the saying -women hold up half the sky.
In our school, we have many female teachers who are dedicated to their work and always forge ahead. They pay close attention to every student and are always ready to help them. In the family, everyone has a mother who selflessly devote much time and energy to her family. Their caring and sacrifice to us are incomparable. Of course there are also many women in society who are just as great as teachers and mothers.
In this occasion, I suggest that all of us give our best wishes to all the women around us. Please give your mother a big hug and also express your gratitude to your teachers. What we have achieved is out of their caring. Wish all women can have a happy and unforgettable Women’s Day tomorrow.
That’s all for our speech today. Thank you for your listening.
