“Double Reduction”at CBS | Differentiated Instruction Workshop
2022.03.04

To implement the 'double reduction' policy, CBS has not only focused on reducing the burden of students, but also on building a new teacher development system that suits the 'double reduction'. This semester, CBS continues to promote its teacher’s learning and growth programme, building bottom-up learning groups and CBS learning communities to address educational issues.

Teachers’ Learning and Growth Programme

"Even a moss flower as small as a rice plant can blossom like a peony". At CBS, we fully recognise that every student is unique, with different endowments, talents, hobbies and strengths. Therefore, we have established a Differentiated Instruction learning group as a sub-project of our Teachers’ Learning and Growth Programme. This term, the Differentiated Instruction group focuses on how differentiated teaching can motivate students and empower teachers. Through differentiated teaching, we hope to rescue students from the mire of 'marks only' and allow every life to blossom.

Differentiated Instruction Group Workshop Agenda

On 2nd March, the first workshop of the Differentiated Instruction Group was held. The teachers discussed what differentiated teaching was and why it was necessary, and learnt some effective differentiated teaching routines such as List, Write, Draw, Domino Discover, and Traction Planner, etc. They also had a lively exchange of views on their teaching practices and students' learning.

Key Points of This Workshop

The 1st Workshop

Teachers are the backbone of the implementation of the 'double reduction', and their professional development should go in the same direction as the 'double reduction'. We will continue to explore teacher development models that are more suitable for our teachers, reduce their burden and increase their effectiveness, creating a better educational ecology.
