On Friday, 26th of March in conjunction with Mission Day Grade 9 (MYP) students from Changwai Bilingual School presented their Community Projects to parents and their peers as well as the demo lessons.
Demo lessons are the highlight of the open day. Teachers have integrated the parents into the classroom, and they have presented the style of the IB inquiry class! The parents enjoyed the process, and praised highly afterwards!
After the open class, parents and children from MYP came to the gym to learn about the ninth grade community project exhibition.A total of nine groups presented their projects during the exhibition. Some of the projects are informing students on appropriate use of internet, importance of healthy diet among students, informing on bullying, investigation on mental health among teenagers, etc.The students were fully prepared and confidence during the speech. they introduced their projects in detail, and wisely answered the questions raised by the audiences. It’s fully demonstrating their communication skills.
Although its their first year being exposed to Community Project but students were very much excited and involved greatly in their respective projects. Students meet with the tutor every week to inform the progress of the project and record the progressive evidence on Managebac. The community project has various forms of presentation. In addition to the emotional presentations, there are also posters, short videos and PowerPoint.
Students were greatly supported by their supervisors throughout their projects by providing suggestions and feedback consistently so that students are on the right track. Special thanks to Ms Talia, Ms Luna, Ms Susie, Ms Cici, Ms Delia, Ms Michelle, Mr Jackie, Ms Shea and Ms Bella for their great effort to guide students to understand the importance of participating in Community Project.
Parents were very happy and satisfied to see their children taking the effort to be confident in their presentation and taking part in service to help the community in various ways. Last but not least, it was a huge success and well done to all Grade 9 students for their effort help contribute to the society in different ways.
