Happy Lantern Festival

Today the CBS students engaged in special activities to celebrate the Lantern Festival. 

The PYP students first learnt more about the Lantern Festival by watching a power point and then were taught how to make their own rice balls. The students carefully followed the teachers’ instructions and once they had completed their rice ball it was sent to the kitchen to be boiled. Once the rice balls were cooked the students had the chance to enjoy their rice balls. 

The students then had the opportunity to play a riddle game. The MYP students joined the PYP students in trying to solve various Chinese and English riddles. The riddles hung from lanterns that were attached to the ceiling and it created a beautiful scene. The students moved around reading the riddles and told the teachers what they thought the answers were. If they correctly answered a riddle they received a coupon. There was a prizes table and the students could take their winning coupons to the table to receive gifts such as stickers, key chains and mugs. 

The CBS students had a wonderful afternoon learning about the Lantern festival and enjoyed the activities together.
