Last week foundation celebrated the “Kindness week” with the objective of encouraging kindness among students, their families, and communities through kind words and actions. During the week we had different activities:
We started with “odd socks Monday”. By wearing different socks we wanted to show that it’s ok and fun to be different, celebrate what makes us all unique and emphasise that we should always be kind to others and appreciate what makes them unique and special.
For our “we all fit in” activity, we shared with students that being kind helps us to make everybody feel included. We want to create a world where we all fit in, no matter who we are, where are we from, or what do we like. During the week students and staff decorated puzzle pieces with things that represented them. As a result we have now a lovely puzzle representing that we all have a special place at CBS and that together we can do great things.
During the week, teachers and students discussed about the power of kindness and had different activities about it. However, we should aim for a world fill with kindness and not only one week. Therefore, different classes will continue with activities that promote this value, having the “Chirstmas kindness challenge”, the “kindness train” and the “kindeness wall”.
Lastly, we wanted to include families in these activities. Therefore, we created the kindness guide for parents, with information about this value and suggestions to promote it at home. Also, foundation is currently organising a Christmas charity donation for the Changzhou orphanage, which will help us to spread love and kindness for those in need.We certainly learned a lot during the kindness week and we will continue spreading its message.
