In Grade 4, the students have been studying supply and demand in their Unit Of Inquiry theme. For the last two weeks the students have researched how to set up a business which was a Tuckshop called Merry May. They started by surveying the students in primary.
Here, the children had written a business plan and are discussing the next step in our weekly business meeting. We chose a new chairperson and secretary for each meeting.
Here, the students are selling their snacks at break time, which was last Friday.
Kenny's role was the cashier; Adel's role was advertising, Becky and Elsa were in charge of buying with Mia as manager. All the children helped with selling including Aiden who sold all the drink stock.
Thankfully, the business was a success as the students made a profit of 6 yuan! The loan was then repaid.
Finally, the students reflected on their self-management skills and their teamwork (social skills). In addition, they discussed what was a success and what could be improved.
The next business will be changing the classroom into a restaurant.
