10月24日 United Nations Day

United Nations Day is a day for people to observe the importance of the United Nations, which strives for world peace and to make the world a better place for all people all over the world. It is an important day for our school to celebrate, as it helps us to develop international-mindedness.

Each homeroom class was assigned a continent and they chose one or two countries from that continent. The classes then worked hard all week to create beautiful displays about their chosen countries. All the classes set up their displays in the school gym. The displays were amazing and included posters, pictures, models, games and delicious foods.

Once everyone had finished setting up their displays and the parents had arrived, the students and parents had time to go around and learn about the different countries. The students and parents listened to the interesting presentations, watched a Hawaiian dance and enjoyed the delicious foods from the various countries. As the students went around they had a special passport that they carried with them, where they had to get a sticker for each 'continent' they visited.

After everyone had finished enjoying the displays the students sat together to sing some songs. First a few students sang a song about United Nations in French. Then all the students and parents sang a song together in English.

The UN Day celebrations ended with a march onto the school field and all the students and parents joined together for some photos. We had a wonderful time celebrating together and we look forward to next year's UN Day.

For UN Day, Foundation had a fun packed morning for the children and parents. Firstly, parents went to their respective child's classroom to listen to a song the children prepared. Secondly, all the classes met in reception and walked out to the together with their parents. It was quite sight to see all the different dress and outfits from many countries! After the parade, we went back inside and ate an array of different food from many countries such as China, South Korea, USA, Mexico, India and so on. Finally we had a UN performance where all the learners sang a song together and each class prepared a individual song as well! Job well done to all the learners!
