The future has come: Education and Teacher literacy in the post epidemic era


On Sunday, September 6, 2020, MYP and DP teachers gathered and listened to the wonderful lecture given by Martin Li Kanghua. Martin Li started with the education and teacher literacy in the post epidemic era, and inspired teachers to think about the changes brought about by the epidemic. Teachers brainstormed and discussed enthusiastically, then Martin Li made a strategic summary based on IB mission statement and learner profiles. It is believed that education in post epidemic era should be life education, holistic education, emphasis on core literacy and lifelong learning skills, project-based learning and inquiry learning, personalization education, blended education and green education. At the same time, Martin Li put forward the requirements for teachers' core literacy, hoping that teachers can become excellent teachers with passion, goal orientation, agency, cooperation and sharing, creative thinking and timely reflection, based on the six building blocks for the success of career development.

Teacher: The Enlightener of Rational Free Man


From the perspective of teachers' responsibility of enlightenment, Martin Li Kanghua guides teachers to cultivate students' critical thinking and creative thinking mode, and helps students develop purposeful, reflective and creative judgment. Next, he gave an overall introduction to the curriculum objectives of Theory of Knowledge. Through group activities, teachers worked on a TOK internal assessment prompt question in combination with relevant disciplines, and made a group presentation. In the process of discussion, teachers sparked different ideas and benefited a lot.

Martin Li provides teachers with a tool to explore knowledge and the world -- knowledge framework, which is interpreted and analyzed from the aspects of scope, perspective, method and ethics. Meanwhile, teachers put forward relevant knowledge framework combined with their own disciplines, and put this abstract concept into practice.

Martin Li's lecture was based on extensive quotations and classics, integrating science, humanities, society, literature and other disciplines with TOK, so that all teachers fully realized the truth, goodness and beauty of TOK, and fully enjoyed the happiness of quality and trust in it. After a day's study and discussion, teachers experienced the truth-seeking exploration from rational thinking to truth-seeking character, from ethical reflection to the exploration of individual life value; from reflection to practice, from the depth of artistic creation and appreciation to the pursuit of aesthetic ability and habit cultivation.

Education is the golden key to unlock the door of freedom


As teachers, we all have the responsibility of enlightenment. Finally, Martin Li concluded today's lecture with a famous saying of George Washington Carver: "Education is the golden key to unlock the door to freedom". Hope every teacher's efforts can open a door and a window for students’ free thinking on the way of their growth!
